ALIF COVID-19 SAFETY & PROTOCOLS
ALIF holds classes at its main site in the new city and extra-curricular activities at its traditional riad in the old city. All students, instructors, staff, and guests must follow the policies outlined below when on ALIF premises. All incoming students must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to their arrival in country. Also note that all incoming students must have written documentation of negative PCR test done within 48 hours of departure from their home destination. While these measures mitigate the spread of the virus, ALIF will still follow strict COVID-19 protocols for all its programming.
All ALIF classrooms are well-ventilated and have been set up to maximize physical distancing between students. Class sizes are limited based on the size of the classroom, currently at 80% capacity. The ALIF Riad is an open-roof traditional house and its occupancy may be limited for activities taking place there. We ask that all persons on ALIF properties maintain a physical distance of two meters from others; this includes outdoor garden space and indoor common areas.
Every person on ALIF premises should:
- Wear a mask or face covering indoors and in classrooms.
- Wear a face covering in outdoor spaces (gardens, courtyards, etc) when the space does not allow for appropriate physical distancing as required by ALIF policy.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty. Additionally, hand sanitizing stations are available at various locations on ALIF grounds and sanitizer spray bottles are available in classrooms.
The ALIF Residence is a 12-room, 18-bed dormitory-style building located across the street from ALIF classrooms. Rooms are cleaned and sanitized regularly by ALIF cleaning staff. Guests are not permitted on-site to avoid overcrowding of the facilities. Residents are expected to follow all ALIF COVID protocols while at the residence hall.
Homestays with Moroccan families have been suspended during COVID. Tentatively ALIF is looking at a Summer 2022 start date for homestays, if we can ensure that students would not be at risk.
Signs of Illness
If you are feeling unwell and/or showing signs of COVID (fever, dry cough, fatigue, loss of smell, general aches and pains, etc), please stay home. If the symptoms worsen, contact ALIF to arrange for a PCR test. ALIF has coordinated with local health providers to offer on-site PCR testing to those who show signs of the virus.
ALIF, in accordance with CDC guidelines, will require a 5-day period of quarantine for any student who tests positive for COVID-19.
